Description
이 퍼포먼스 작품은 파운드 푸티지, 그리고 필름 영사의 해체된 요소, 그리고 실시간 마이크로-카메라 피드의 결합으로 구성된다. 자기-반영적이며 시학적인 접근법을 통해 규모를 측정할 수 없는 시네마의 메타 아카이브를 탐구하는 이 작품이 제시하는 흔들림 없고 위태로운 스펙터클은 파운드 푸티지 필름 스트립과 손으로 조작한 옵티컬 사운드와 같은 영화적 상영 과정의 해체를 통해 "영화적 사건"과 "서사"의 재구성을 통해 발생하는 것이다.
<컨셉션>은 생의 기원에 관한 원시적 형상을 해독하려는 미니멀리스틱한 시도로, 시네마의 진정한 본질에 더 가까이 다가서기 위해 의식적으로 불가능한 목표를 설정해 ‘퍼포먼스'적 실천을 기반으로 끊임 없이 영화적 요소를 분해하고 재조립하는 실험이며 개념(컨셉션)과, 소리, 무빙이미지의 합성이다.
Conceptión combines found footage and deconstructed elements of film projection, and live micro camera feed. The performance is a self-reflective and poetic investigation of the boundless meta archive of cinema. This unhinged and precarious spectacle is re-orchestration of a “cinematic event” and “the narrative” with the help of strips of found footage film and by using deconstructed elements of the cinematic projection process such as hand orchestrated optical sound from film strips.
Conceptión is a minimalistic perusal of a world-view based on the shattering of the primal egg - and experiments with the elements of cinema, deconstructing and reassembling distinct cinematic ingredients with the consciously impossible aim of getting closer to the true essence of cinema: a synthesis of concept, sound, and moving images.
Bio
사미 반 잉엔(1964년생)은 핀란드 출신의 실험영화 및 설치미술 작가이며 큐레이터이자 교육자다. 그는 30편 이상의 영화를 제작했는데, 대체로 보는 행위에 대해서 미묘하게 다루면서 또한 다양한 기법으로 파운드 푸티지나 잊혀진 푸티지를 조작해서 만들어진 것이다. 그의 작품은 푸티지의 부유하는 순간들로부터 의미를 증류해낸다. 사용하는 푸티지는 홈무비에서부터 주류 블록버스터, 혹은 아카이브 영화에 이르기까지 다양하게 사용되며, 물리적으로 해체내지는 조작하거나 필름 스트립 자체를 재촬영하기도 한다. 그는 핀란드 한카바라에 거주하면서 작품활동을 하고 있다.
Sami van Ingen is a Finland-based experimental filmmaker, installation artist, curator, and educator. Van Ingen has made over 30 films, mostly dealing subtly with the act of seeing and using various strategies to manipulate found or forgotten footage. In his work he distills meaning from fleeting moments of footage– be it home movies, travelogue scenes, mainstream blockbusters, or archival discoveries – by physically deconstructing, manipulating and re-photographing the film strip. He lives and works in Hankavaara, Finland.
